The new Clinical Simulation Lab at The University of Vermont / Fletcher Allen Health Care designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects employs mannequins that sweat, bleed, and breathe.

IDEXX Laboratories this fall will begin construction of a $60 million corporate headquarters designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects.

Manchester, NH's Boy Scout Troop 104 recently earned their Architectural Merit Badge with the assistance of Lavallee Brensginer Architects. The group toured the architects' offices to learn about the role of architects today.  The group then visited The Derryfield School new Gateway Building to see a project first hand.  Led by Lance Whitehead, the Scouts learned how various components come together, asked questions, and engaged the onsite Construction Manager, ProCon Construction, in the experience.  Through these tours, the boys gained an understanding of how well-designed buildings go from ideas to reality.

Among 50 submissions in the category of Dining Room Renovations, the Kendal at Hanover Cadbury Community Center renovation project has been selected as a finalist in the 3rd Annual Long-Term Living Remodel-Renovation Competition. Designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects, this expansion and renovation project re-energizes and updates gathering and activity areas of Kendal’s continuing care retirement community. Residents now enjoy the choice of casual, formal or private dining areas, coffee bars, a 10,000 volume library and art room, supporting social interactions and building on the facility’s strong sense of community.

Construction has begun on The Derryfield School’s new Gateway Building, a $1.2 million project designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects. The Gateway Building is replacing the Art House, which was formerly located on the site and was razed in early January. The new 8,132sf facility, which is considered to be the “front door” to The Derryfield School, was designed and is being constructed using energy efficiency specifications to reduce energy consumption. The two-level building will host two classroom/seminar spaces, an improved admission area, and business office space.  

Continuing a successful longterm relationship with IDEXX Laboratories, Lavallee Brensinger Architects has been selected to design a new 3-story, 110,000 square foot corporate headquarters building for the growing international pet healthcare company in Westbrook, Maine. The new facility will complete Phase 2 of the company’s campus development plans. The building will be LEED Certified, and will be designed for compatibility with Lavallee Brensinger’s recent award-winning additions and renovations to IDEXX’s R&D and manufacturing facilities. The design effort will begin immediately.

Chris Drobat, Vice President and Principal at Lavallee Brensinger Architects was named this week to the prestigious “40 Under Forty” class of 2011. The annual awards program is sponsored by the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Lavallee Brensinger Architects received an Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture at the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Institute of Architects' 27th Annual Awards Banquet on January 22. The firm's IDEXX Laboratories project is a corporate office major campus expansion and renovation, that enabled IDEXX to meet two goals: to reinvent the company’s image as an innovative, world-class leader in science and technology; and to create a more human-friendly and inspiring work environment, which includes a connection to nature.

Reconstruction of Hillsborough-North Superior Court is on schedule and under budget, according to project managers. With the passing of each day, the old courthouse on Chestnut Street in Manchester, NH, which was gutted early this year and had extensive asbestos removed by July, looks less and less like a giant, steel shell. The project, scheduled to be finished in July 2011, is being funded through $17 million the state appropriated in 2009 to cover everything from asbestos abatement to exterior landscaping.

Valley Regional Hospital celebrates the opening of its $22 million addition and renovation project designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects. Major improvements include new private patient rooms, emergency department, same day surgery, main entrance, and cancer center.

At the facility’s opening ceremony on July 30, Vermont Governor James H. Douglas proclaimed North Country Hospital’s new primary care building as the first of its kind in Vermont. “It will serve as a model for primary care practices in Vermont,” Governor Douglas said. “This kind of facility is the wave of the future. This is the first facility constructed in Vermont specially designed to serve the patient-centered medical home model.”
